I’m the biggest nostalgiafag, amirite?
Anywho, here’s something about my experience with the end of school throughout the years. They were never a bad thing.
In elementary school, the last day of school was absolute bliss. You went to school, played a few games, hung out with friends for the last time, and had some last-day-of-school snacks. Everybody had their eyes on the clock. When that bell finally rang, my friends and and I went to either my family car or our best friends’ family car. Either that, or we walked (That is definitely more nostalgic for me.) Once we got home, I either absolutely played the shit out of my Nintendo 64/Pokemon, or played outside with the neighbors (either baseball or skateboarding or biking.) What frustrated me, though, was how I was not acquainted with summer mode. Knowing that I had no homework and nothing stupid to do the next day were literally (and yes, I do mean literally in that sense) too fucking awesome. However, the last day of school was not nearly as awesome as the day after the last day of school. Waking up to not having to do shit was like Christmas, except with more sleep and less presents. When my parents were gone and I wasn’t allowed to go outside, I would play the shit out of my Nintendo 64 and watch the shit out of TV shows that I’m not supposed to watch.
In middle school, things were much of the same, with a few differences. I would usually sleep until the afternoon and fall asleep at 5 (I was a tired sonofabitch). I would also go outside and unicycle, hang out with friends, and play on the Internet, all of which I wasn’t allowed to do at the time.
Early high school was when summers changed a lot (and I mean for the much better.) About two weeks into the summer, I would move up to Iowa for a month and work at a hog/corn farm. Throughout this, I worked outdoors and made fucking bank. I bought my first Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii by working at this job. I had the entire basement to myself and a large expanse of land for me to unicycle on (I fucking love unicycling, by the way). Getting back to see my good friends was the best way to end this trip (although it was not even close to the end of summer).
After that, summers were still awesome, but not fully the same. I started my job at a movie theater, so a large portion of my freedom was gone. Still, I had my license and was able to drive around with my friends. My last summer I remember as being unbearably hot. Whenever the weather was bearable, I remember the day being primarily used to bike long distances.
Now that I think about it, I actually have plans for my first day of summer this year. Unpack my stuff, set up my TV/Wii/XBOX/laptop, ride a long distance, and play the shit out of some video games. You know, for old time’s sake.

I saw this image on 1000 awesome things and it made me think of something. I’m sure that every boy misses best-friend hugs. You can be the most heterosexual, iron-pumping, vagina-penetrating male on the face of the earth, but you know you used to love this shit.
i miss the generations when a guy had to ask a girl out by asking her parents, where a girl could just be beautiful in a tshirt, where bubonic plagues decimated villages across europe and left a third of the population dead. reblog if u agree
